Ben Maher won the CSI5* Grand Prix at CHIO Rotterdam on 21 June 2026, riding Point Break. It was his first five-star Grand Prix or World Cup win in 917 days.
The last one came on 17 December 2023, in the World Cup at London (Excel), aboard Enjeu de Grisien. Everything between those two dates was a near miss.
Where it started
Maher kept reaching the podium. The wins stopped. The runner-up run started the day after London, on 18 December 2023, when Ginger-Blue finished second in the Grand Prix at the same venue. That set the pattern for the next two and a half years.
Ten times within reach
Across the wait, Maher placed on ten five-star Grand Prix or World Cup podiums without taking one. Nine of those were second. The only result outside the runner-up spot was a third in the World Cup at Washington.

| 18 Dec 2023 | Grand Prix, London (Excel) | Ginger-Blue | 2nd |
| 28 Jul 2024 | Grand Prix, Hickstead | Enjeu de Grisien | 2nd |

| 28 Mar 2026 | Rolex Grand Prix, Wellington | Enjeu de Grisien | 2nd |

Four horses carried him to those podiums. Enjeu de Grisien, the one who delivered the last win, was second four times. Point Break matched it. Ginger-Blue and Faltic HB added one apiece.
Point Break's turn
Point Break had been knocking. Second at Verona in November 2024. Second at London (Excel) a month later. Second again at the LGCT Grand Prix in London in August 2025, and at the Rolex Grand Prix in Windsor in May 2026. Four runner-up finishes at the top level before Rotterdam.
917 days of so close. One win that ends the wait.
All results at CSI5* level. The wait is measured from Ben Maher's win in the World Cup at London (Excel) on 17 December 2023 to his win in the CSI5* Grand Prix at CHIO Rotterdam on 21 June 2026.
