Banzai Bids for Brilliance at the Kentucky Five-Star

Very few horses and riders manage to win multiple major titles. As we gear up for the 2024 Defender Kentucky Five-Star, there’s some serious buzz around Yasmin Ingham and her horse, Banzai Du Loir. They’re in a great spot to make history by adding a major title to their recent World Championship win.

Banzai Du Loir & Yasmin Ingham are in a strong position going in to this year's Defender Kentucky Five-Star to become only the fifth horse in history to add a major title to their World Championship title.

At the moment, the Prediction Centre has them as the second favorites with a 25% win chance, just behind Tom McEwen and JL Dublin (30%) and ahead of Oliver Townend who is making his 100th run at CCI5* level this weekend (15%).

Only four world champions have won multiple majors:

Regal Realm, Lucinda Green

Worlds 1982, Badminton 1983

Priceless, Ginny Elliott

Burghley 1983, Burghley 1985, Badminton 1985, Worlds 1986

Ready Teddy, Blyth Tait

Olympics 1996, Worlds 1998, Burghley 2001

La Biosthetique Sam – FBW, Michael Jung

Luhmuhlen 2009, Worlds 2010, Olympics 2012, Burghley 2015, Badminton 2016, Olympics 2016

It wont be easy. It is one of the strongest fields in years!
