Some of the world's strongest equestrian duos are heading to Rome for the first five-star Nations Cup on European soil this year. Who are the strongest pairs to keep our eyes on?

Two of the current Top 10 Elo-rated horses in the world will be competing in Rome this weekend. Simon Delestre's Cayman Jolly Jumper and Laura Kraut's Baloutinue have already proven their worth with solid results this year and are surely motivated to continue along that trend. 

The French are coming in hot in Rome, with two of the Top 10 highest-rated horses in the field belonging on the French Team. Alongside Cayman Jolly Jumper, team veteran Viking d'la Rousserie will help ensure a strong result to start of their Nations Cup season.

Maikel van der Vleuten's Beauville Z N.O.P. will also be a force to be reckoned with in Rome this weekend, both as an individual and as part of Team NL. This pair has shown incredible consistency so far this year, maintaining an impressive 77.8% clear rate at 4* and 5* level. The consistency needed on a Nations Cup team.
