Elo Movers & Shakers: Hortensia Ahead
Hortensia van de Leeuwerk is the biggest Elo climber after a superb five-star Grand Prix win in Coapexpan.
We are on the other side of yet another thrilling weekend of jumping action. These are the biggest Elo climbers of the weekend.
Marcel Gonzalez Dufrane's Hortensia van de Leeuwerk is the biggest Elo mover of the week. The pair won the five-star Grand Prix in Coapexpan and boosted their Elo by 23 points and found themselves back in the 700 bracket. She is the second-highest Elo-rated horse in Mexico (behind Eugenio Garza Perez' Contago on 744).
A superb start to 2024 for Sanne Thijssen’s Con Quidam RB who at 18 years of age, won two classes at the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera. After winning Friday’s 150 GP Qualifier, they also took the win in the 155 Grand Prix. This boosted their Elo by 21 points, seeing them break the 700 Elo barrier once more.
Another 21 point Elo boost comes from Rene Lopez’s Kheros van ‘t Hoogeinde. After a third place finish in the 5* Grand Prix at the Saut Hermes show in Paris, Kheros has built his Elo up to 709. He is now the highest-rated horse in Colombia.
After finishing second in the CSI4* Grand Prix at the Desert Horse Park in Thermal, Ali Ramsay's Bonita van het Keizershof Z boosted her Elo by 13 points and is now one of eight Canadian horses to have an Elo of over 700.
The winner of that four-star Grand Prix in Thermal also had a significant boost to their Elo. Ingrid Gjelsten and VDL Edgar M won their second Grand Prix of the circuit and grew Edgar's Elo by another 13 points, solidifying his position as the highest-rated horse in Norway.
