Two five-star Grands Prix share Sunday. Lyon hosts its Longines FEI Jumping World Cup qualifier at 15:00, the closing class of Equita Lyon. On the same day in Morocco, the Longines Global Champions Tour runs its Grand Prix of Rabat.

The two entry lists have a different shape. Lyon has nine horses with an Elo of 750 or higher. Rabat has four.

Both fields arrive with wins behind them. The Lyon entries have won 12 Grands Prix at CSI5* 1.60m this year, shared between seven riders. The Rabat entries have won eight, shared between six.

Lyon: Point Break sets the mark

Point Break carries the highest Elo on either entry list at 788. Ben Maher’s horse has jumped clear in 36 of 61 rounds at CSI5* 1.60m. That is a 59% clear rate on courses that produced clears 29% of the time. No Lyon horse with 20 or more rounds at the level has a better rate.

His 2026 has been sharper still. Twelve of his 15 rounds at the level were clear. He won the Grand Prix of Rotterdam in June, was second in the Rolex Grand Prix at Windsor, helped Great Britain to team bronze at the World Championships in Aachen and finished third in the LGCT Grand Prix of Cairo last Saturday.

Two options for Maher: Enjeu de Grisien is also on his entry list. That horse won the CPKC ‘International’ at Spruce Meadows in September.

The World Cup form line

Steve Guerdat and Albfuehren’s Iashin Sitte know how World Cup qualifiers are won. They took Leipzig in January and Helsinki in March, then finished sixth at the Final in Fort Worth. In August they won the Rolex Grand Prix of Ireland in Dublin, and in September they were third in the CPKC ‘International’.

Three Grand Prix wins this year puts Guerdat level with Piergiorgio Bucci for the most among the Lyon riders. The pair jumped clear in 13 of their 21 rounds at the level in 2026.

Willem Greve and Grandorado TN N.O.P. are the other World Cup winners in the field this year. They won in Göteborg in February, then placed fourth in the Grand Prix Hermès in Paris and third in the Grand Prix of Rotterdam.

The 2025 podium returns

Olivier Perreau and GL Events Dorai d’Aiguilly won this class last year in front of a home crowd, at the head of an all-French podium. They are back, with 94 rounds at CSI5* 1.60m behind them, four wins and ten podiums.

Their 2026 includes third place in the LGCT Grand Prix of Paris, fourth in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and places on winning French teams in the League of Nations in Abu Dhabi and the Nations Cup at La Baule.

Antoine Ermann and Floyd des Pres finished third here a year ago. Their career clear rate at the level is 54%, from 20 clears in 37 rounds. Among Lyon horses with 30 or more rounds, only Point Break has a better rate.
