Three five-star shows, three very different fields. LGCT Cairo has 18 horses rated 700 or higher. Washington has nine, bunched tightly at the top. San Miguel de Allende has two, and Conor Swail rides both of them.

Every number below is a combination’s career record at CSI5* 1.60m level, going into these shows. Here is where the stars of each field stand.

Elo: An overall performance rating for the horse. Higher is better, and the top horses in the world sit in the high 700s.

San Miguel de Allende: Swail sets the standard

Home hope: Nayel Nassar and Esi Ali are the highest-rated Egyptian combination in Cairo. Esi Ali’s Elo of 746 ranks ninth in the field. Clears at this level have been harder to come by, with two from 16 rounds, so a home clear would be a big step.

Washington: seven horses inside 20 points

Rodrigo Pessoa and Major Tom top the WIHS field on 762, one point off the horse’s career best. They have 21 clears from 57 rounds at CSI5* 1.60m and 11 podiums. Six more horses sit between 742 and 754, which makes this the tightest top end of the three shows.
